Huge mihi to @aotearoanzfest @wetafxofficial @creativenz for having us to create this massive installation of the two legendary Taniwha, Ngake & Whātaitai, who formed the landscape of Te Whanganui-a-tara.
Huge mihi to Mana Whenua Te Āti Awa & Ben Ngaia, writer of the OG book Ngake Me Whātaitai, for supporting us to bring these two Taniwha back to reunite in our contemporary interpretation.
Our signature Exquisite Kaitiaki Wāhine stand as a beacon and compass to tautoko Ngake & Whātaitai’s visit to the waterfront. These wāhine embody a few of the many aspects of womanhood
We couldn’t have done it without Cushla Aston & the epic Tāwhiri crew.
Shannon Brosnahan Inglis and the loveliest workshop team who built these beasts with their bare hands!
To Mere Boyton for believing in the vision, ngā mihi nui to you all.
We hope anyone out there who didn’t previously know about these two Taniwha will become familiar and connect with the story and how it has shaped the land we live on.
To our first collective collaborator the amazing @jessicocococo & Tokerau bringing the magical ✨Hotline To The Divine✨ to the Taniwha spirit world in the puku of Whātaitai, we love you guys!
Thanks to @cassady.rukutia for assisting 😘
